DESIGN | TECHNOLOGY... MEET FUN.
Although water is your best friend when you have a Jetboard, Dealing with water from an engineering perspective involved hundreds of hours of engineering, trials and tribulations. While the concept is simple, the challenges to actually make the dream a reality were huge. The biggest challenge was making an engine that was flat enough to fit inside a surfboard, yet powerful enough to propel a 110 kg rider at speeds of up to 70 k/hr. Many have tried and all have failed to produce a craft that is both reliable and able to resist water intrusion, with the power to thrust a rider at speed, reliably.
Team JetBoarder went back to basics looking first at the hull design, secondly at the engine componentry, and lastly at the elements of Mother Nature. Years of re-engineering, hundreds of hours of testing and trials of many different lubricants and additives, resulted in the 2009 Sports Model.
The challenges were huge.
Prevent Water Intrusion into a hull which contains an engine, then whilst submerged able to withstand the vibrations of ignition and RPM of 6500, then the weight of the rider whilst underwater, lastly getting the board ‘on the plane’ all whilst preventing water intrusion into the hull.
Engine Performance :
Many have failed to deliver a reliable engine able to handle the strain and pressure of underwater performance. It seemed simple. An engine capable of delivering the performance and reliability required to take a rider from point A to point B and back.
Protruding Fins :
During transportation and storage, the fins mounted on the hull would act as a general obstruction, causing difficulty and annoyance. Also If the fins were damaged (usually during out of water handling) It would necessitate difficult repair of the damaged fin.
THE RIDE | THE JETBOARD EXPERIENCE ?
JetBoarding captures the natural power of a sideways stance and the thrill and excitement of surfing, water skiing, wake boarding, Kite Surfing and speed sports all in one. Even though there are similarities, JetBoarding is not expected to take over any of the associated sports, but to bring together these sports into an enhanced and different experience.
Easy for the Beginner...
JetBoarding might seem like a difficult sport but the combination of the "easy to use control" and the balance and buoyancy of the board makes the basics quite simple. While some sports can take months to learn, most people that try JetBoarding the first time manage very well. In fact we have a "100% STAND UP RATE" amongst first timers so far. “IF YOU CAN RIDE A BIKE... YOU CAN RIDE A JETBOARD”.
G-Force Turns
The Jetboard is revolutionary in its ability to keep the rider firmly attached while leaning into a high speed turn and extending the riders body out over the water. It is simply a complete rush to use your hand as a hydroplane on the water, pushing up on the water as you bring the board back up under your feet.
Nose Riding
Another exciting feature of the Jetboard is the pliable handle that allows the rider to walk to the nose of the board. The rider can hold that position with the board at top speed as long as the nerves hang in there. There is nothing like doing 65 k/hr+ with nothing but water in front of you. That is truly walking on water...
Jumps
The extreme thrill of getting air is what has propelled wakeboarding, snowboarding to new heights in recent years. JetBoarding is no exception with the highest air and all the tricks right behind. As the board gets lighter, the upcoming extreme riders will only be limited by their imagination...
